Office clearance

Office clearance for a move, a downsize or a closure

Office clearance in south-east London costs from £60 plus VAT to £360 plus VAT for a full truck with RLE Waste Clearance, priced by the space it takes. A two-person crew carries out desks, chairs, filing cabinets and paperwork, weekends included, with transport and disposal in the price. Send photos of the office on WhatsApp for a price.

How do we get rid of unwanted office furniture?

Unwanted office furniture is cleared by RLE Waste Clearance in one visit: desks, chairs, filing cabinets, meeting tables, shelving and soft seating all go on the truck together. Two people carry it out, and labour, loading time, transport and disposal are included. Mark anything that's staying and the crew clears around it.

Loads run on 13 sizes up to a full truck of 15 cubic yards, with loading time included, up to 60 minutes for a full truck. Half a truck holds 7.5 cubic yards, roughly what fills a single garage, at £180 plus VAT. Computer monitors are £10 plus VAT each on top. Send photos of each room, including the store cupboard and the kitchen, with the postcode, to 07534 244774 on WhatsApp. The price is confirmed before work starts, with no obligation to go ahead.

What we take

What we clear from offices

  • Desks, office chairs and meeting tables, taken apart where needed
  • Filing cabinets, cupboards and shelving
  • Boxes of paperwork, old files and stationery, with confidential paper shredded or given a destruction certificate
  • Computers, printers, photocopiers and other IT equipment
  • Monitors and TVs at £10 plus VAT each
  • Kitchen fridges, £60 plus VAT, or £90 plus VAT for a commercial unit
  • Reception furniture, sofas and soft seating
  • Bagged general office waste

We can collect asbestos that has already been removed if you tell us about it first, but not chemicals or other hazardous waste. Fluorescent tubes are £2 plus VAT each; see the extra items list.

What access details does an office clearance need?

An office clearance needs three access details: where the truck can stop, how the furniture gets down to it, and who lets the crew in. Tell us about the loading bay or the nearest place the truck can stop, any goods lift, and who holds the keys or the alarm code. Desks, workstations and meeting tables that won't fit through a door are taken apart on the day.

You don't need to be there if access and instructions are clear. A weekend slot means the crew can carry desks through the office without working around your staff, or clear the old premises after the move has gone through on a Friday.

What happens to confidential files and hard drives?

Confidential files are dealt with as part of the clearance: RLE Waste Clearance either shreds confidential paper or provides a destruction certificate for it, so there's no need to book a separate shredding firm. Point out which boxes hold client details, payroll records or anything else confidential when you send photos. Paperwork that isn't confidential goes with the rest of the office waste.

Hard drives are different. Wipe or remove them before the day, and the computers, printers and copiers can then go with the furniture.

How does a business pay for an office clearance?

A business pays for an office clearance on completion, by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, or we invoice the business. We don't accept personal cheques. Every clearance comes with a waste transfer note and a receipt for your records. See what is a waste transfer note? for what it records and how long to keep it.

Businesses that clear out regularly can also apply for a commercial account. Commercial accounts are subject to credit checks, so allow time for that before the clearance date.

Do you clear shops and other business premises?

RLE Waste Clearance clears shops, warehouse units and other business premises as well as offices, from a shop refit to a unit being handed back. Commercial waste removal covers regular collections on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly schedule. Council tips don't accept commercial waste, so whoever takes a business's waste should be a registered carrier, which you can check on the government's register of waste carriers (external site).

We're based in Chislehurst, BR7, and clear offices across Chislehurst, Bromley and Lewisham.

Questions

Office clearance questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp or give us a call.

One office room with a few desks, chairs and a filing cabinet is often a quarter to half a truck, between £130 plus VAT and £180 plus VAT, plus £10 plus VAT per monitor. Send a photo of the room on WhatsApp and the price is confirmed before work starts.

Old office paperwork, from archive boxes to stationery, goes on the truck with the rest of the office waste. Confidential paper, such as client or payroll records, is shredded by RLE Waste Clearance, or you get a destruction certificate for it, so there's no need for a separate shredding company. Point out the confidential boxes when you send photos, and wipe or remove hard drives before the day.

An office can be cleared while you're still working in it, as long as there's a clear route from the desks to the door. Mark what's going, keep a walkway free, and the crew works around everyone else, room by room. Tell us which rooms you'd like cleared first when you send photos.

An office clearance can be booked at a weekend or early in the morning, because RLE Waste Clearance works 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, and weekends cost the same as weekdays. A Saturday or a 7am start lets the crew carry desks out before staff arrive, or clear the old premises once the move has gone through. Tell us the slot you want when you send photos, and we'll offer the next free one.

An office clearance can be invoiced to the business instead of paid on the day. Businesses that clear out regularly can also apply for a commercial account, subject to a credit check. Otherwise, payment is on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, and every job comes with a waste transfer note and a receipt. Personal cheques aren't accepted.

An office clearance includes 15 minutes of loading for a quarter truck, 30 for half and 60 for a full truck, with two people loading. Stairs, long corridors or a slow goods lift add time, and loading past the included time is charged at £30 plus VAT per 30 minutes.

Computers, printers, photocopiers and other IT equipment go on the truck with the rest of an office clearance, priced by the space they take. Monitors and TVs are £10 plus VAT each on top of the load. Wipe or remove the hard drives before the day, because the machines leave with everything else. Send photos of the IT with the rest of the office for one price.

Every office clearance comes with a waste transfer note and a receipt from RLE Waste Clearance, so the business has a record of what was taken and who took it. Keep both with your waste records. RLE is an upper tier registered waste carrier, broker and dealer, CBDU175566, which you can check on the public register (external site), and is CHAS Standard accredited.
