Rubbish removal in Dartford

Dartford Borough Council's special collection is the low-cost option for a few bulky items: up to 10 items for £39.50, with up to four more at a small charge each, though fridges and freezers are excluded for now. For anything more, or rubbish that's still inside, RLE Waste Clearance prices by the space it fills in the truck and does all the carrying.

Sofas, armchairs and other upholstered seats can contain persistent organic pollutants, and the rules on those mean Dartford Borough Council may collect them separately from the rest of a bulky booking (special collections (external site)). RLE Waste Clearance collects fridges and freezers in Dartford while Dartford Borough Council's bulky service isn't taking them. A domestic fridge or fridge freezer is £60 plus VAT on top of the load, or £60 plus VAT in total if it's the only thing going. An upright freezer is £60 plus VAT, a chest freezer or American fridge freezer £90 plus VAT, and a commercial fridge £90 plus VAT. Two of us carry it out.

A rented flat in Dartford can be cleared without the landlord or agent there, as long as access is arranged. A key safe, a key left with a neighbour or a code for the main door is enough, as long as we know what's going. Payment is on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, with a waste transfer note and a receipt.

Dartford householders can be fined if their rubbish is fly-tipped by an unregistered firm, so check any collector on the register of waste carriers (external site) first. The council does pursue fly-tippers: its Name and Shame page (external site) lists a £1,080 fine for a bathtub dumped on Groveherst Road.
