Rubble removal
Rubble removal for hardcore, bricks, concrete and soil
To get rid of rubble in south-east London, RLE Waste Clearance's rubble removal is one heavy load at £360 plus VAT for up to 1,200kg or 15 cubic yards of bricks, concrete, hardcore and soil. Two people load it from the drive, garden or patio, and transport and disposal are included. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a price.

How does rubble removal work?
Rubble removal with RLE Waste Clearance starts with a photo of the pile and your postcode on WhatsApp to 07534 244774, with something in the picture for scale. The price is confirmed before the crew starts, with no obligation. On the day, two people load the rubble, and you pay on completion with a receipt.
A heavy load covers broken concrete, bricks, blocks, hardcore, paving and soil. With dense material the weight limit is usually reached before the volume one, and a pile of rubble can look small and still weigh a lot, so the size of the heap alone doesn't tell you much. If the job is bigger than one heavy load, we'll tell you that from the photo so there are no surprises on the day.

What we take
Heavy waste we collect
- Broken concrete, slabs and old footings
- Bricks and blocks from a knocked-down wall
- Hardcore and old sub-base
- Paving slabs and patio stones
- Soil and turf dug out for a patio, path or extension
- Stone, gravel and broken tiles
We can't take chemicals or other hazardous waste. Asbestos that has already been removed can go if you tell us about it first, so have anything suspect checked before it's broken up.
Why is rubble priced by weight as well as space?
Rubble is priced by weight as well as space because it's so dense. Most of what we collect is priced only by the space it takes in the truck, but a bag of broken concrete or wet soil weighs several times more than the same bag of garden cuttings, so a truck carrying it reaches its weight limit long before it looks full. That's why heavy loads have their own price of £360 plus VAT for up to 1,200kg, rather than going on the normal load scale.
If your waste is mostly lighter material with some rubble mixed in, such as plasterboard, timber and packaging from a refit, our builders' waste page explains how mixed loads are priced. Rubble in bags or builders' sacks is the quickest to load.
Can you clear rubble from a patio, a garden wall or a dug-out garden?
Rubble from lifting a patio, taking down a garden wall or digging out a garden all goes in a heavy load. Lifting an old patio leaves slabs and the sub-base beneath them. Taking down a garden wall leaves bricks and mortar, and digging out for an extension, a path or a new lawn leaves soil and stones that need to go somewhere. If there's no side access to the garden, the crew barrows the rubble through the house to the truck.
None of that goes in a council garden bin. Bromley's garden waste service (external site) excludes soil and rubble, along with tree trunks and large branches. Council tips only take small amounts of household rubble, so the slabs and sub-base from a whole patio usually need a collection like ours. If you're clearing the garden as well, our garden clearance page covers green waste, sheds and fencing.

What if the rubble might contain asbestos?
Rubble that might contain asbestos has to be checked before it's broken up. It can turn up in old cement sheet garage and shed roofs, some older floor tiles and textured coatings, and in hardcore made from broken building materials. Once it's mixed into a rubble pile, the whole pile becomes a problem.
If you think a structure might contain it, leave it intact and have it checked by an asbestos specialist. If it does contain asbestos, we don't remove it ourselves. Once it has been removed, tell us before the day: we can collect it, kept apart from the rubble, and clear the rest of the pile too.
How do I book a rubble collection?
A rubble collection is booked once you've agreed the price from your photo. We collect rubble across Chislehurst, Bromley, Lewisham and the surrounding areas, working 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. Book before 12pm and the job's done the same day.
We're a registered upper tier waste carrier, broker and dealer, number CBDU175566, which you can check on the GOV.UK register (external site). Bromley Council says householders can be fined up to £5,000 if they don't check who takes their waste. You pay on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, and you get a waste transfer note and a receipt. Everything we collect goes to a waste transfer station, where it's sorted. Businesses can be invoiced, and commercial waste removal covers regular collections for firms.

One heavy load of rubble holds up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg. With broken concrete, bricks or wet soil, the weight limit is usually the one you reach first, so a heavy load can look smaller than you'd expect. Send a photo and RLE Waste Clearance will tell you whether your pile fits in one load before anything is booked.
A skip or a collection can both suit rubble, depending on the job. A skip suits rubble that builds up over several days, but you load it yourself, and a skip on the road needs a council permit that the skip firm applies for. A collection suits rubble that's already piled up: two people load it in one visit at £360 plus VAT for a heavy load, with nothing left on the drive.
Rubble rarely goes for free in any quantity, because it can't go in household bins and Bromley's garden waste service excludes soil and rubble. RLE Waste Clearance collects it as a heavy load at £360 plus VAT, loaded by two people, so you don't have to lift it into a car or a van yourself.
Soil, turf and stones dug out for a patio, path, pond or extension can go in a rubble collection, priced as a heavy load. They're among the heaviest things we collect, so a dig-out often reaches the 1,200kg limit before the truck looks full. Send a photo of the pile, with something in it for scale, for a price.
Rubble can go in the same load as timber, tiles and general waste, so a mixed pile from a building job doesn't need sorting first. Plasterboard is taken too, but it has to be kept separate from the rest. A load that's mostly rubble is priced as the heavy load, £360 plus VAT, and RLE Waste Clearance will tell you from your photo which price applies.
Rubble doesn't have to be bagged before it's collected, but bags or builders' sacks are quicker to load than a loose heap and keep the drive tidier while they wait. Loading time is built into the heavy load price. If a loose pile needs more time than that, extra labour is £30 plus VAT per 30 minutes, and we'll tell you before we start.
An old garage roof can go, but if it's cement sheet it might contain asbestos, which is common on older garages and sheds. Have the roof checked before anyone takes it down. We don't take asbestos down ourselves, but once it's off we can collect it, kept apart from the rubble, if you tell us before the day. The bricks, timber and other waste can go too.
A rubble collection can go ahead without you at home if the rubble is on the drive or in the front garden and you've told us exactly where it is. Send a photo showing the pile and the access when you book. You can pay by bank transfer on completion, and you get a receipt.
