How much does Bromley Council charge for a bulky waste collection?
Bromley Council charges from £43 for a bulky waste collection, rising with the number and type of items. You book and pay on the council's bulky waste page (external site), and the council collects within 10 working days, from the front of the property only. RLE Waste Clearance is a private firm and doesn't run that service.
RLE prices by load, not by item. A minimum load at £60 plus VAT is about 10 bin bags or one armchair, and a quarter truck at £130 plus VAT is about a room of bags and small furniture. That suits better when you have more than a few items, when they're upstairs or still in the house, or when you need a set day.

How does Bromley Council's bulky waste collection work?
Bromley Council's bulky waste collection is booked and paid for online through the council's bulky waste page. The price depends on how many items you have and what they are, with a £43 minimum, and the per-item prices and limits appear as you book. After payment, the council collects within 10 working days, and the items need to be out between 7am and 3:30pm.
The items have to be at the front of your property, not out on the highway, and the council crew doesn't come inside. If you re-arrange with less than 24 hours' notice, you pay another £43. Households on Universal Credit or Housing Benefit get one free collection a year, worth up to £43.
This is Bromley Council's own service. RLE doesn't run it and isn't connected to it. For anything about a council booking, go to the council's bulky waste page (external site).
When is the council collection the better choice?
The council collection is the better choice for one or two large items that you can get out to the front yourself, with no fixed date. In that case it will often cost less than our minimum load of £60 plus VAT. If you're on Universal Credit or Housing Benefit and haven't used your free collection this year, it's the obvious first call. To see how Bromley's fees sit against nearby boroughs, council bulky waste collections compared sets ten councils side by side.

When does a loaded bulky waste collection in Bromley suit better?
A loaded bulky waste collection in Bromley suits better in a few situations.
- More than a few items. We charge for the space the load takes up, not per item, so several pieces of furniture and a pile of bags are priced as one load. As a rough guide, a room of bags and small furniture is a quarter truck at £130 plus VAT, about 4 cubic yards.
- Items still inside. The council lifts from the front of the property only. We carry from upstairs bedrooms, lofts, garages and flats with no front garden, which matters in central Bromley, where over half of homes are flats (external site).
- A date that suits you. The council collects within 10 working days of payment. We agree a day with you, and we work 7am to 7pm, seven days a week at the same prices every day.
- A mixed load. Furniture, bagged rubbish, garden waste and rip-out waste can all go together in one load, so nothing needs splitting off into a second booking.
- Items that aren't on the council's list. If the booking page doesn't offer the thing you need gone, send us a photo. Most household items can go in a load.
For a whole house or flat rather than a few items, see house clearance in Bromley.

Bromley Council's bulky waste collection is booked online through the council's bulky waste page (external site), where the price for your items shows as you book and you pay up front. Prices start at £43 and depend on the number and type of items. The council collects within 10 working days of payment, from the front of the property.
Bulky waste in Bromley means household items too big for the wheelie bin, such as sofas, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, fridges and washing machines. Bromley Council shows which items it takes, and the price of each, as you book. RLE Waste Clearance takes all of those in one load, along with bagged rubbish, garden waste and old sheds.
Bromley Council prices its bulky waste collection by type of item, and the full list of items and prices only appears during booking, so check there for a sofa or mattress. The one item the council's page rules out is a sun bed with UV lamps. RLE Waste Clearance takes sofas within the load price, and mattresses at £10 plus VAT each. Sofa disposal and the POPs rules explains why sofas and armchairs are handled apart from other bulky waste.
Bromley Council collects bulky waste within 10 working days of payment, and the items need to be out between 7am and 3:30pm. RLE Waste Clearance agrees a day with you when it confirms the price, and works 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. Book before 12pm and the job's done the same day, which helps if things need to be gone before a tenancy ends or a sale completes.
Bromley Council collects bulky waste from outside the property only, at the front, and not from the highway or from inside. If your items are upstairs or there's no front garden, our two-person crew carries them down and loads them. Loading time is built into each load size, and a long carry that needs more is £30 plus VAT per 30 minutes.
RLE Waste Clearance is a private company based in Chislehurst, not part of Bromley Council. It doesn't run the council's bulky waste collection and can't take council bookings. R.L.E Clearance Ltd has been a registered company since 2017. To book the council service, use the council's bulky waste page (external site).
Chemicals and other hazardous waste are the only waste RLE won't take in Bromley, and asbestos that has already been removed can go if you tell us about it first. Bromley's hazardous waste service (external site) deals with those. Everything else from a normal clear-out can go in a load, from furniture and white goods to bags and garden waste, with fridges, mattresses and TVs charged as extras on the price list.
Checking who collects your bulky waste in Bromley matters, because householders can be fined up to £5,000 for not checking who takes their waste. Ask any collector for their waste carrier number and look it up on the GOV.UK register (external site). RLE is a registered upper tier waste carrier, CBDU175566.
