White goods collection

White goods collection for old washers, dryers, cookers and fridges

To get rid of white goods in south-east London, RLE Waste Clearance offers white goods collection from £60 plus VAT for washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, cookers and fridges, priced by the space they take. The two-person crew lifts appliances out of kitchens, utility rooms and upstairs flats, with transport and disposal included. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a price.

How much does white goods collection cost?

White goods collection with RLE Waste Clearance costs the same as any load: you pay for the space the appliances take, up to £360 plus VAT for a full truck of 15 cubic yards. Washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and standard cookers aren't on the extra items list, so they're priced on space alone.

Fridges, freezers and range cookers are the exception. A standard fridge or fridge freezer carries an extra £60 plus VAT on top of the load, because it has to be handled separately from other appliances, and fridge disposal lists the charge for bigger and commercial units. A range cooker is £50 plus VAT, and TVs and monitors are £10 plus VAT each. Send a photo of what's going and your postcode on WhatsApp (07534 244774) and the total is confirmed before we come, with no obligation. One appliance or a whole kitchen's worth, it's priced the same way.

How is a mixed load of white goods priced?

A mixed load of white goods is priced as one load, by the space it takes, with the extra charge added for any fridge, freezer or range cooker in the mix. Most white goods jobs aren't a single item. A kitchen refit might leave a cooker, a dishwasher and a fridge freezer along with old units and worktops, and a move might clear a washing machine, a dryer and a sofa from the same house.

As a rough guide, a quarter truck at £130 plus VAT holds a single room's bags and small furniture, and a half truck at £180 plus VAT is roughly a single garage. A photo is the quickest way to get an accurate price for a mix of appliances. If the appliances are part of a full kitchen or bathroom rip-out, we can take the units and worktops in the same load.

Why do fridges and freezers cost extra?

Fridges, freezers and air con units cost extra because they contain refrigerant gases and insulation that have to be dealt with separately from other appliances. The charge is for each unit, on top of the load, and a chest freezer, American fridge freezer or commercial fridge costs more than a standard fridge freezer.

Our fridge disposal page lists the charge for each type and covers single collections, commercial units and what to do before we arrive.

Which white goods will the council collect?

Council bulky collections take some white goods, but the rules differ by borough and the crews only collect from outside.

  • Dartford Borough Council's bulky collection (external site) costs £39.50 for up to 10 items but currently takes no fridges or freezers, citing "a national lack of availability at treatment plants".
  • Bromley's bulky collection (external site) starts at £43, is priced by the number and type of items, and collects from the front of the property only, within 10 working days of payment.
  • Lewisham's bulky collection (external site) charges £25 for a fridge or freezer and won't collect American-style or double-door models.

Our white goods collection covers fridges and freezers across the areas we serve, including the American-style and double-door models Lewisham won't take. Mention an American fridge freezer when you send the photo, so we can plan for its size. See our Dartford, Bromley and Chislehurst pages for local collection and parking details.

Do I need to be home for a white goods collection?

You don't need to be home for a white goods collection if the appliances are somewhere we can reach, such as a front garden, a driveway or a porch with a key safe, and you've told us where they are. You pay on completion by card, cash or bank transfer, and you'll get a waste transfer note and a receipt.

We're an upper tier registered waste carrier, broker and dealer, number CBDU175566. You can check that on the Environment Agency register (external site), or check any collector through the gov.uk carrier check (external site) before you hand appliances over.

Questions

White goods collection questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp or give us a call.

White goods are large household appliances: washing machines, washer dryers, tumble dryers, dishwashers, cookers, ovens, fridges and freezers. RLE Waste Clearance collects all of them, along with microwaves and other small kitchen appliances. Fridges and freezers carry an extra charge each because of the gases inside, and range cookers, TVs and computer monitors are charged per item too.

White goods can go for free through the shop that sells you a new appliance. Retailers must offer a free way to dispose of the old one when it does the same job, in store or through a take-back scheme, though a shop can charge to collect from your home (gov.uk (external site)). Council bulky collections charge a fee, and we price by load.

Council bulky collections take some white goods for a fee, from outside the home only. Dartford Borough Council's costs £39.50 for up to 10 items but currently takes no fridges or freezers. Bromley's starts at £43 and collects from the front of the property. Lewisham charges £25 for a fridge or freezer and won't take American-style or double-door models.

A fridge freezer can go in the same white goods load with RLE Waste Clearance, with an extra charge on top of the load for each fridge or freezer. Our fridge disposal page lists the charge for each type, from a standard fridge freezer to an American-style one. Send a photo of everything that's going and the full price is confirmed before we arrive, with the crew, loading, transport and disposal included.

An old TV can go in the same RLE Waste Clearance load as your white goods, at £10 plus VAT per TV or computer monitor on top of the load price. The charge applies to each screen. Mention how many there are when you send the photo, so the price includes them from the start.

White goods should be disconnected before the crew arrives, as it makes the collection quicker. Washing machines and dishwashers should be unplumbed and drained, and freezers defrosted the day before. A gas cooker must be disconnected by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If you're not sure whether something is ready, mention it when you send the photo and we'll talk it through.

White goods can be collected from a flat with no lift, because RLE Waste Clearance sends two people to carry them down the stairs. Tell us the floor and send a photo when you ask for a price, so we can plan the job. Loading time is included, and if a heavy appliance needs more time than that, extra labour is £30 plus VAT per 30 minutes, agreed before we start.
