Man and van rubbish removal

Man and van rubbish removal with two people to load it

A man and van for rubbish removal in south-east London costs from £60 plus VAT with RLE Waste Clearance, up to £360 plus VAT for a full truck, priced by space rather than the hour. Two people carry it out from upstairs, lofts and gardens, with transport and disposal included. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a price.

Is a man and van charged by the hour?

A man and van from RLE Waste Clearance isn't charged by the hour: the price is set by how much of the truck your rubbish fills, across 13 load sizes. Loading time is built into each size, from 5 minutes for the minimum load to 60 minutes for a full truck of 15 cubic yards.

If a job runs well past the included loading time, extra labour is £30 plus VAT per 30 minutes, agreed before it starts, so traffic and tight stairs don't push the price up. Labour, transport and disposal are in the price, and we don't pass on parking fees, fines or the congestion charge. Prices are the same every day of the week, with no weekend premium. The price is confirmed from your photo before we start, with no obligation to go ahead.

What we take

What the van takes

  • Bags of household rubbish and clutter
  • Sofas, beds, wardrobes and tables
  • Washing machines, cookers and other white goods
  • Mattresses, at £10 plus VAT each
  • TVs and monitors, at £10 plus VAT each
  • Garden waste and bagged builders' rubble
  • Office furniture and boxed paperwork

This is a rubbish removal service. We don't do house moves or deliveries, and we don't carry anything to a new address. We can collect asbestos that has already been removed if you tell us about it first, but not chemicals or other hazardous waste.

Is this man and van for rubbish only?

This man and van is for rubbish only. Plenty of man and van firms do removals as well as rubbish, but we don't move furniture to a new home, collect a sofa from a shop or deliver anything anywhere.

If you're moving house, book a removal firm for what you're keeping and us for what you're not. A house clearance or flat clearance before or after the move is often the simplest way to deal with what's left behind.

Who does the lifting?

A two-person crew does all the lifting and loading, from upstairs bedrooms, back gardens, lofts and garages. Some man and van services send one driver and expect you to help carry. With us you can point at what's going and leave the crew to it.

You don't even need to be home if the rubbish is somewhere we can reach, such as a front garden or driveway, or if there's a key safe and clear instructions. We cover Chislehurst, Bromley, Lewisham and much of London, 7am to 7pm, seven days a week.

Want a price for yours? Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you the load size and the price.

How is the man and van priced if not by the hour?

The man and van is priced by the share of the truck your rubbish fills, with loading time already built in. An hourly rate can climb if the traffic is bad or the stairs are tight, and a price by space doesn't.

  • About 10 bin bags or one armchair: the minimum load, £60 plus VAT
  • One room's bags and small furniture: about a quarter truck, £130 plus VAT
  • A one-bedroom flat's furniture or a single garage: roughly half a truck, £180 plus VAT
  • A larger clearance: a full truck, £360 plus VAT

Fridges, mattresses, tyres and a few other items are on the extra items list.

Does a man and van need a permit or a parking bay?

A man and van needs no permit or bay suspension, because the truck only parks while the crew loads. Nothing is left on the road and there's no waiting for a collection, which is the main difference from hiring a skip.

You don't need to borrow a van or book a slot at the tip either, because the crew takes everything away.

Questions

Man and van rubbish removal questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp or give us a call.

You don't have to help load the man and van, because two people do all the carrying and loading, including from upstairs rooms, lofts, gardens and garages. You only need to show them what's going. If something is awkward, such as a sofa that has to come down a narrow stair, mention it with your photos so the crew can plan the carry.

To check a man and van can legally take your rubbish, ask for their waste carrier registration number and look it up on the gov.uk carrier check (external site). RLE Waste Clearance is a registered upper tier waste carrier, broker and dealer, number CBDU175566, which you can see on the Environment Agency register (external site).

A householder can be fined if a man and van dumps their rubbish and they didn't check who took it. Householders can be fined up to £5,000 for not checking who takes their waste, so ask for the carrier's registration number and check it before anything leaves. Keep the paperwork too: every collection from us ends with a waste transfer note and a receipt.

The minimum charge for a man and van collection is £60 plus VAT, which covers about 10 bin bags or one armchair, and a single item on its own is that £60 plus VAT minimum. A mattress carries £10 plus VAT on top, while a fridge collected on its own is £60 plus VAT in total. More on mattresses is on the mattress disposal page.

The man and van service is for rubbish only, so there are no house moves or deliveries. RLE Waste Clearance doesn't move belongings to a new address, pick up purchases or deliver items. For a move, book a removal firm for what you're keeping, and the crew can clear whatever is left behind before or after.

A man and van for rubbish can be booked 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, and if you book before 12pm the job's done the same day. Send a photo and your postcode on WhatsApp (07534 244774) or call 020 8611 2586, and the price and the day are agreed together. You don't need to be home on the day if the rubbish is somewhere the crew can reach and you've said where it is.
