What's included in rubbish removal in North London?

A two-person crew, the carrying and loading, the drive up from Chislehurst across the Thames and the disposal are all included when RLE Waste Clearance handles rubbish removal in North London. Tunnel tolls, parking fees, fines and the Congestion Charge are never added. By road, Angel is about 14 miles from our Chislehurst base and Enfield Town about 24.

A few items cost a set amount on top, such as a domestic fridge at £60 plus VAT and a mattress at £10 plus VAT, and the rest are on the extra items list. For one or two things you can put out on the pavement, compare your council's bulky collection first. For anything bigger, send a photo and your postcode on WhatsApp to 07534 244774, and the price is confirmed before work starts, with no obligation.

Is the council collection the better deal in your borough?

For a few items you can put out on the street, the council collection is often the better deal, and you should book it. Here's what each North London council charged for a bulky waste collection when we checked on 4 October 2026:

  • Enfield (external site): free for up to 6 items on your postcode's collection day, or £22 to choose the day. Electricals are £54 for one, £60 for two and £66 for three.
  • Haringey (external site): £20 for up to 4 items, then £10 each, to a maximum of 10. The page carries no date, so check the price with Haringey before you book.
  • Camden (external site): £25 for 1 to 5 items or up to 20 bags, £50 for 6 to 10 items and £75 for 11 to 15, plus £10 for up to 2 large electricals. Over-65s and residents on 100% Council Tax Support get 2 free collections a year.
  • Islington (external site): £10.82 an item with a £32.46 minimum and a limit of 10 items, half price for anyone on Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support.

Our minimum load is £60 plus VAT, so for a couple of chairs the council usually comes out ahead. The sums change once the pile passes the council's item limit or the things are still upstairs, and a fixed collection day can clash with the date a tenancy ends. Book before 12pm and the job's done the same day. As a rough guide, a half truck at £180 plus VAT holds about 7.5 cubic yards, around a one-bedroom flat's furniture.

Council tips in North London take no business waste and only a little DIY waste, so office clearance and builders' waste jobs come to us by the load, with heavy mixed waste such as soil and rubble at £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg.

Who gets a wardrobe down from a converted flat in Camden?

Camden's bulky collection is street level only. The crew lifts what's on the pavement, and the stairs are your problem. That matters here, because Census 2021 (external site) counts converted or shared-house flats as 26.2% of homes in Camden, 22.8% in Haringey and 21.3% in Islington. Most are older houses split up, with one narrow shared staircase between the top flat and the front door.

Two of us do the carrying and loading, and the loading time is built into the load price. A big job that runs past the included time costs £30 plus VAT per 30 minutes of extra labour. For a flat being handed back at the end of a tenancy, see flat clearance; for a whole property, house clearance.

How far do we come for a North London job?

It's a fair drive. By road it's about 23 km from Chislehurst to Islington, 25 km to Camden, and 37 to 38 km to Wood Green and Enfield. Every route crosses the Thames, either through central London or round by the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels or the Dartford Crossing.

The distance doesn't change the price. A North London load costs the same as one in Bromley, with no travel surcharge and no tunnel or crossing toll, and parking fees, fines and the Congestion Charge aren't added on top. The price we give you from your photo is confirmed before work starts, with no obligation. You pay on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque and get a waste transfer note and a receipt. Hackney is covered on our East London page.

Questions

Rubbish removal in North London: your questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp or give us a call.

Bulky waste collection in Enfield is free for up to 6 items collected on your postcode's set day. Choosing your own day costs £22, and electricals are charged separately, from £54 for one (Enfield's bulky waste page (external site)). For more than 6 items, or things that still need carrying out of the house, a load from us may suit you better.

The cheapest North London council for bulky waste is Enfield, which collects up to 6 items free on your postcode's day. Haringey is next at £20 for up to 4 items, then Camden at £25 for up to 5. Islington charges £10.82 an item with a £32.46 minimum, half price on Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support. Those prices were checked on 4 October 2026, so confirm with your council before booking.

The Congestion Charge is never passed on to customers, even though parts of south Camden and south Islington sit inside the zone at £18 a day. The same goes for parking fees and fines. RLE Waste Clearance confirms your price before work starts, with no obligation to go ahead, and you pay on completion with a receipt.

A top-floor flat in Haringey is a normal job for the crew: two people carry everything down the stairs and load it, and the loading time is part of the load price. Haringey's council collection costs £20 for up to 4 items, so for one sofa the council may be the better choice. For a whole flat, send a photo on WhatsApp to 07534 244774.

A waste carrier in Camden can be checked on gov.uk's registered waste carrier search (external site) using the name or carrier number, so ask for the number before handing anything over. RLE Waste Clearance is a registered upper tier waste carrier, number CBDU175566. Camden recorded 36,216 fly-tipping incidents in 2024/25, the second-highest count in England on Defra figures (external site), and Camden and Enfield both fine fly-tippers £1,000.

RLE Waste Clearance can collect asbestos that has already been removed from a North London home if you tell us about it before the day. We don't take it down ourselves, so keep it apart from everything else and don't break it up. Chemicals, clinical waste and other hazardous waste can't go, and if any turns up on the day, we leave it where it is and tell you.

An office in Islington can be cleared by the load like any other job, with desks, chairs, shelving and bagged waste carried out by two crew. Monitors and TVs are £10 plus VAT each. Commercial accounts are available, subject to credit checks, and payment is on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, with a receipt. See office clearance.

North London rubbish removal from RLE Waste Clearance covers Islington, Camden, Haringey and Enfield, including N1, N7, NW1, NW5, N22, N18 and EN1. By road it's about 23 km from Chislehurst to Islington, 25 km to Camden and 37 to 38 km to Wood Green and Enfield. The prices are the same as anywhere else we work, with no travel surcharge or toll added.
