Rubbish removal in East London

Rubbish removal in East London costs from £60 plus VAT with RLE Waste Clearance for the smallest load and £360 plus VAT for a full 15 cubic yard truck. Our two-person crew carries everything down from upper-floor flats, which the free Tower Hamlets collection won't do, and transport and disposal are included. Send a WhatsApp photo to get a price.

How much does rubbish removal cost in East London?

Rubbish removal in East London with RLE Waste Clearance is priced by how much of the truck your waste fills, across 13 load sizes. As a rough guide, a single room's bags and small furniture fill about a quarter truck, at £130 plus VAT, and a one-bedroom flat's furniture about half a truck, at £180 plus VAT.

We cover E and RM postcodes in Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, Barking and Dagenham, and Havering from our Chislehurst base, so every East London job crosses the Thames, with no toll or travel charge added. By road, Poplar is about 9 miles from Chislehurst, Stratford about 11 and Romford about 27. Check your council first, because Tower Hamlets and Newham collect a few bulky items free. Fridges, mattresses and a handful of other items are charged on top. A WhatsApp photo to 07534 244774 with your postcode gets you a price, confirmed before any work starts and with no obligation.

Should you use the free council collection first?

For a handful of items, the free council collection is usually the better deal. Two of the five boroughs we cover collect for nothing, and the other three vary a lot. These are the prices and rules as we found them on 4 October 2026:

  • Tower Hamlets (external site): free, 2 collections a year of up to 5 items each. Crews don't come into the home, and high-rise residents must bring items down to the ground floor.
  • Newham (external site): free from September 2026, 3 collections a year of up to 6 items each, as announced on 13 August 2026.
  • Hackney: the council's own page shows no prices, so check with Hackney before you book.
  • Barking and Dagenham (external site): charges residents who aren't council tenants, with caps on each type of item. We couldn't confirm the price, so check with the council.
  • Havering (external site): £71.50 for 1 to 3 items plus £18.50 for each extra one, ground floor only, nothing over 6ft, and the fee isn't refundable.

A load from us starts to make sense once the pile runs past the free allowance, or nobody in the flat can get it down the stairs. With man and van rubbish removal there's no van to hire and nothing to carry yourself: the crew loads the lot and takes it away in one visit.

What if your flat is above the ground floor?

Census 2021 (external site) counts 80.7% of Tower Hamlets homes and 60.4% of Hackney homes as purpose-built flats, and that's exactly where the council services stop short. Tower Hamlets' free collection needs high-rise residents to bring every item to the ground floor themselves, and Havering's paid one is ground floor only as well.

Our two-person crew carries everything down and loads it, and that loading time is already part of the load price. It suits an end-of-tenancy flat clearance, with private renting at 38.5% of homes in Newham and 38.1% in Tower Hamlets.

Want a price for yours? Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you the load size and the price.

What does crossing the Thames add to an East London job?

Crossing the Thames adds nothing to your price. Every route from Chislehurst to East London crosses the river, through the Blackwall or Silvertown tunnels or on the Woolwich Ferry, and Romford and the rest of Havering are likely reached over the Dartford Crossing. We pay any tunnel or crossing toll ourselves, and there's no travel surcharge.

By road it's about 15 km from Chislehurst to E14 and about 41 km to Romford, and an East London load costs the same as one in Bromley. No congestion charge, parking fee or fine is passed on to you. Whatever the route, the price we give you is confirmed before work starts.

Who should take your rubbish away in Hackney?

Your rubbish should go with a registered waste carrier who gives you a receipt, because Hackney logged 31,042 fly-tipping incidents in 2024/25, the fourth-highest count in England on Defra figures (external site), and Tower Hamlets fines fly-tippers £1,000. You can ask for the carrier number before anything is loaded, and every job from us comes with a waste transfer note and a receipt.

We take builders' waste and rip-out waste by the load as well, and heavy mixed rubble, soil and hardcore is £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg. Asbestos that has already been removed can go if you tell us about it first, but chemicals and other hazardous waste can't. We also clear fly-tipped rubbish dumped on private land.

Bulky waste collection in Tower Hamlets is free twice a year for up to 5 items. Crews don't come inside, though, and high-rise residents have to bring everything down to the ground floor themselves. The terms are on Tower Hamlets' bulky waste page (external site). If the carrying is the problem, the RLE Waste Clearance crew does it, priced by the load.

Newham's bulky waste collection is free from September 2026. The council announced on 13 August 2026 that households get 3 free collections a year of up to 6 items each (Newham's announcement (external site)). For more than that, a two-person crew from us carries it all out and loads it, with the loading time inside the load price.

A paid rubbish collection in East London is worth it once the pile runs past the council's free allowance, or nobody can get it down the stairs. Tower Hamlets takes up to 5 items twice a year, brought to the ground floor, and Newham up to 6 items three times a year. A load from us has no item count, and the crew carries everything out for you.

An East London rubbish removal price covers two crew, the carrying and loading, the drive from Chislehurst and the disposal, with the loading time set for each load size. No tunnel or Dartford Crossing toll, travel surcharge, parking fee or fine is added. A domestic fridge adds £60 plus VAT and a mattress £10 plus VAT, and the rest are on the extra items list.

A flat in Newham can be cleared without you there, as long as access is clear, for example through a key safe. Send photos of each room with the postcode and say what stays, and the price is confirmed before the crew arrives. The crew carries everything down from the upper floors, and you pay on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque.

Romford and the rest of Havering are covered across RM postcodes, about 41 km from Chislehurst by road and most likely over the Dartford Crossing, with no toll or travel charge added. Havering's own collection costs £71.50 for up to 3 items and is ground floor only, so for a garden clearance or a full garage clearance, a load from RLE Waste Clearance is worth pricing.

A waste carrier in Hackney can be checked on gov.uk's registered waste carrier search (external site) using the carrier number they give you. RLE Waste Clearance is a registered upper tier waste carrier, broker and dealer, number CBDU175566, and the entry is on the Environment Agency register (external site). We're CHAS Standard accredited as well.

Plasterboard from East London refits and building jobs is taken, as long as it's kept separate from the rest of the waste, so mention it when you send the photo. Rubble, tiles, timber and general waste can go in together, and a load that's mostly rubble is £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards. See builders' waste.
