Builders waste removal

Builders waste removal for homeowners and trades

Builders' waste removal in London costs from £60 plus VAT for a light load with RLE Waste Clearance, or £360 plus VAT for a heavy load of rubble and soil. To get rid of builders' waste, a two-person crew carries out plasterboard, timber and bagged rubble, with transport and disposal included. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a price.

How much does builders' waste removal cost?

Builders' waste removal with RLE Waste Clearance costs up to £360 plus VAT for a full truck of light waste, across 13 load sizes priced by space. Light means packaging, cardboard, timber, offcuts, old doors and kitchen units. A load that's mostly rubble, soil, bricks or hardcore is the heavy load, up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg.

Every price includes the two-person crew, the loading, transport and disposal. Most renovation waste is a mix of the two, so send a photo of the pile and your postcode on WhatsApp (07534 244774). We'll tell you which price applies and what the total is before anyone lifts a bag, and there's no obligation to go ahead.

What we take

What goes in a builders' waste collection

  • Plasterboard offcuts and broken sheets, kept separate from the rest
  • Timber, joists, skirting, architrave and old doors
  • Packaging, cardboard, plastic wrap and pallets
  • Bags of rubble, broken tiles and old plaster
  • Old kitchen units, worktops and bathroom suites from a rip-out
  • Old window and door frames
  • Old carpet, underlay and floorboards
  • Paint tins, at £10 plus VAT per 5 litres

We can collect asbestos that has already been removed if you tell us about it first and keep it apart from the rest, but not chemicals or other hazardous waste.

How are light and heavy builders' waste priced?

Light builders' waste is priced by the space it takes, and heavy waste has its own price. Rubble and soil weigh several times more than the same volume of timber or cardboard. A load of packaging, offcuts and stud timber fills space long before it gets heavy, so it's priced like any other rubbish. As a rough guide, a quarter truck (£130 plus VAT, about 4 cubic yards) holds a room's worth of bags and small items, and a half truck (£180 plus VAT, about 7.5 cubic yards) is roughly what a single garage holds.

Dense waste such as broken concrete, bricks and hardcore hits the weight limit long before the volume one. That's why heavy mixed builders' waste has its own price of £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg. A job that's mostly broken concrete, hardcore or dug-out soil goes on that heavy price too, so say what's in the pile when you send the photo.

Can builders and trades book builders' waste removal?

Builders and trades can book builders' waste removal for any paid job. Council tips are for household waste and turn trade waste away, so waste from a paid job needs a registered carrier to take it.

We're an upper tier registered waste carrier, broker and dealer, number CBDU175566, which you can check on the Environment Agency register (external site) or through the gov.uk carrier check (external site). Every collection ends with a waste transfer note and a receipt for your records, and everything we collect goes to a waste transfer station, where it's sorted. Trades can pay by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, and regular trade customers can apply for a commercial account, subject to credit checks. We collect from jobs across Chislehurst, Bromley and Lewisham, so you can book builders' waste removal each time the waste builds up rather than keeping a skip on the drive between stages.

Want a price for yours? Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you the load size and the price.

What can't go in a builders' waste collection?

Chemicals and other hazardous waste can't go in a builders' waste collection. Asbestos that has already been removed can, if you tell us about it first. It can turn up in older textured ceilings, vinyl floor tiles, pipe lagging and cement sheet garage roofs, and it shouldn't be broken up or bagged with the rest of the rubble. If you think it's there, stop work, get an asbestos survey and tell us what it finds before we come.

Leftover paint, fluorescent tubes and Calor gas bottles can go, each with a small extra charge from our extra items list. Mention them when you send the photo so they're in the price from the start.

Does builders' waste removal need a skip or a permit?

Builders' waste removal from us needs no skip, no skip licence and no parking bay suspension. The truck parks, the crew loads, and the drive is clear when it leaves. If there's no side access, the crew barrows the rubble through the house. We don't pass parking fees or fines on to you, and we're open 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. Book before 12pm and the job's done the same day, which helps if you'd rather the waste went before the next trade arrives.

If you're weighing the two up for a longer project, our page on the alternative to skip hire sets out what's different, including when a skip might suit you better.

Questions

Builders waste removal questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp or give us a call.

Builders' waste is what a building or renovation job leaves behind: plasterboard, timber, packaging, offcuts, old doors and frames, broken tiles, plaster, rubble and old kitchen or bathroom units. RLE Waste Clearance takes all of it, light and heavy, in the same visit. Asbestos that has already been removed can go too if you tell us about it first. The exceptions are chemicals and other hazardous waste, which need a specialist.

Plasterboard goes in a builders' waste collection, from offcuts to broken sheets, as long as it's kept separate from the rest of the waste. Keep it in its own pile or bags, away from the rubble, timber and general waste, and show it in the photo so the load size is right. RLE Waste Clearance prices it by the space it takes, and it isn't on the extra items list.

Old floor tiles and textured ceiling waste can go with RLE Waste Clearance, but older vinyl floor tiles and textured ceiling coatings sometimes contain asbestos. Have them tested before anyone breaks them up. An asbestos survey will tell you, and if they do contain asbestos, tell us before the day so it can be kept apart from the rest of the load.

Rubble can go in a skip instead, and a skip on the drive can suit a long job where waste comes out a bit at a time. You load a skip yourself, and on the road it needs a council licence that only the skip firm can apply for. Builders' waste removal is loaded by the crew and leaves on the same visit. Our skip hire comparison sets out both.

Builders' waste removal can be booked by you or your builder, and the price is the same because it's set by the waste that's there. If your builder is clearing up as part of the job, check whether waste removal is already in their quote, so you don't pay twice. Whoever books, RLE is a registered upper tier waste carrier, number CBDU175566, so the waste goes to someone on the public register.

Builders' waste can be collected in stages, with a collection booked each time the pile builds up. Each one is priced by the space the waste takes on the day, so nothing sits on the drive between stages. Regular trade customers can apply for a commercial account, subject to credit checks. Send a photo each time and the price is confirmed before the crew starts loading.

Builders' waste can be collected without you there, as long as the crew can reach it and you've told us where it is. Waste on a driveway, in a front garden or by an open side gate is fine. Agree the price from your photo first, then pay on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, and you'll get a receipt.
