Garden waste removal

Garden waste removal once the cutting's done

To get rid of a large amount of garden waste in south-east London, RLE Waste Clearance offers garden waste removal from £60 plus VAT. Two people load the bags, branches and heaps left after a hedge cut or tree work, with transport and disposal in the price. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a price.

How much does garden waste removal cost?

Garden waste removal with RLE Waste Clearance is priced by load, on 13 sizes of a 15 cubic yard truck. A pile from a hedge cut is often around a quarter truck at £130 plus VAT, and the branches from a felled tree can run to half a truck at £180 plus VAT or more.

Labour, loading, transport and disposal are all in the price. Send a photo of the pile and your postcode to 07534 244774. Put something in the shot for scale, like a wheelie bin or a garden chair, and we'll tell you which load size it falls into. Any bags are fine, and so are loose branches and heaps. The price is confirmed before we start loading.

What we take

Green waste we collect

  • Bagged grass cuttings, leaves and weeds
  • Hedge trimmings and prunings
  • Branches and brash, loose or bundled
  • Logs and trunk sections cut small enough for two people to lift
  • Tree stumps and Japanese knotweed
  • Turf and soil from a bed or lawn being dug over
  • Old pots, compost bags and broken trellis mixed in with the green waste

Soil and turf are heavy. A load that's mostly soil may go on the heavy load price of £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg.

Why isn't the council garden bin enough?

A council garden bin is built for regular mowing, not a one-off pile. Bromley's garden waste bin costs £80 a year for a 240-litre bin, emptied fortnightly from March to November and monthly from December to February (Bromley (external site)). The bin excludes soil, rubble, food, flower pots, plastic, garden furniture, tree trunks and large branches, which rules out much of what a tree surgeon leaves behind.

Extra sacks need a £3.10 sticker each, with a 20kg limit per sack, and builder bags aren't accepted. A big hedge cut can fill far more sacks than you'd want to sticker and wait on. One collection from us takes the whole pile, bags, branches and all.

Can you collect the waste after a tree surgeon or hedge cut?

Garden waste left after a tree surgeon or a hedge cut can be collected once the work is finished, which helps when the quote for the work didn't include taking it away. You don't need to be in if the pile is somewhere we can reach, such as the front garden, the drive or a side passage with the gate open.

Council tips don't take a gardener's or tree surgeon's trade waste, so it needs a registered carrier such as RLE Waste Clearance (CBDU175566). We collect green waste across Bromley, Orpington, Chislehurst and nearby, 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. Parking fees, fines and the congestion charge are never passed on to you.

Want a price for yours? Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you the load size and the price.

What if the whole garden needs clearing?

A whole garden that needs clearing, with an old shed, broken fencing or years of overgrowth to deal with, is a garden clearance. It's the same two-person crew and the same load pricing, just more to take.

Questions

Garden waste removal questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp or give us a call.

Garden waste isn't collected free in Bromley: the council's garden waste bin costs £80 a year for 240 litres, and extra sacks need a £3.10 sticker each. The bin also excludes soil, tree trunks and large branches. RLE Waste Clearance takes a one-off pile in a single visit, branches and soil included, priced by the space it fills in the truck.

Soil, turf and stones can go with the garden waste, but they're heavy, so a load that's mostly soil may go on the heavy load price of £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg. Mention any soil, turf or stones when you send the photo, so the price reflects the weight before we start.

Long garden branches and brash are fine as they are. Trunk sections are a different matter because of their weight, so ask whoever fells the tree to cut them into rounds that two people can lift. Mention any big logs when you send the photo so the price allows for them.

Garden waste bags don't need council stickers for a collection from us. Any bags, sacks or loose piles are fine, including builder bags, which the council's sack collection won't take. The crew loads everything, so leave it wherever is easiest to reach and send a photo with your postcode.

Garden waste and other rubbish can share a load, so old pots, a broken bench or a few bags of household rubbish go in with the green waste, all priced by the space it takes. Anything on the extra items list costs extra, such as a fridge at £60 plus VAT.

A gardener or tree surgeon can book the garden waste collection directly, or you can book it yourself once the work is done. Gardeners who book often can apply for a commercial account, which is subject to a credit check. Otherwise, payment is on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, with a waste transfer note and a receipt.

A garden waste collection can go ahead without you if the pile is somewhere the crew can reach, like the front garden, the drive or a side passage with the gate unlocked. Agree the price first on WhatsApp or by phone, then pay on completion by card or bank transfer. You'll get a receipt.
