Garden clearance

Garden clearance for overgrown and junk-filled gardens

Garden clearance in south-east London costs from £60 plus VAT with RLE Waste Clearance, up to £360 plus VAT for a full 15 cubic yard truck. Two people clear overgrowth, broken fencing and junk, and take an old shed apart where it stands, with transport and disposal included. Send a photo of the garden on WhatsApp for a price.

How is the price of a garden clearance worked out?

A garden clearance from RLE Waste Clearance is priced by how much of the truck the waste fills, on 13 load sizes, with no hourly rate. Labour, loading time, transport and disposal are all in that price. As a rough guide, a small garden tidy fills about a quarter truck at £130 plus VAT.

A neglected garden with a shed, old fencing and a heap of growth is more likely half a truck at £180 plus VAT or more. Soil, rubble and broken paving are heavy, so a load that's mostly hardcore goes on the heavy load price of £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg. Send a photo of the garden and your postcode on WhatsApp to 07534 244774. The price is confirmed before work starts.

What we take

What we clear from a garden

  • Overgrown shrubs, brambles, weeds and old cuttings
  • Branches and cut-up tree limbs
  • Tree stumps and Japanese knotweed
  • Sheds, dismantled on site and taken away
  • Broken fence panels, posts and trellis
  • Garden furniture, old barbecues and rusted tools
  • Rubble, broken paving and soil
  • Bags of household rubbish left out in the garden

We can't take garden chemicals such as weedkiller. Asbestos that has already been removed can go if you tell us about it first. Old paint left in a shed is fine at £10 plus VAT per 5 litres, as shown on the extra items list.

Can an old shed come down in the same visit?

An old shed comes down and goes in the same visit as the rest of the garden. The crew takes it apart where it stands, loads the panels, roof and floor along with whatever was stored inside, and leaves the base clear. You don't need to dismantle anything or drag it round to the front first. Send a photo of the inside as well as the outside, because a full shed adds to the load.

The council route is narrower. Bromley's bulky waste collection only takes a shed that's already dismantled and no bigger than 6'x6', and items have to be left at the front of the property (Bromley (external site)). If an older shed has a roof that might be asbestos cement, tell us before we come and don't break it up. We don't take asbestos down, but we can collect it once it has been removed.

Do I need to sort or bag anything before a garden clearance?

Nothing needs sorting or bagging before a garden clearance. Most are a mix of overgrowth, a collapsed fence, a rotten bench and a pile of old bags, and two people load all of it in one go, green waste and the rest together.

Bigger plots around Chislehurst, Orpington and Bromley often hold far more than a garden bin can take. The council's green bin excludes soil, rubble, tree trunks, large branches and garden furniture, which is most of what a proper clear-out turns up.

Want a price for yours? Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you the load size and the price.

Can a landlord book a garden clearance between tenants?

Landlords and letting agents book garden clearances between tenancies, or before photos for a sale or a new let. You don't have to be there if we can get in. An unlocked side gate, a key safe or clear instructions sent with your photos is enough.

Payment is on completion by card, cash, bank transfer or company cheque, and you'll get a waste transfer note and a receipt for your records. Agents who book often can ask about a commercial account, subject to credit checks.

What photos help price a garden clearance?

A photo from the back door and one from the far end of the garden usually gives enough to price a garden clearance. A few details make the price more accurate.

  • Steps, a narrow side passage or a long carry to the road
  • Anything you're keeping, such as pots, a bench or a water butt
  • Soil, rubble or old paving hidden under the growth, since heavy waste is priced differently
  • Any items from the extra items list, like a fridge left in the shed

Loading time is built into each load price. Extra labour beyond the included time is £30 plus VAT per 30 minutes.

What if it's only green waste to shift?

Green waste on its own, once the gardening is already done, is a smaller job. Our garden waste removal service collects cut and bagged green waste after a hedge cut, tree work or a big seasonal tidy.

Questions

Garden clearance questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp or give us a call.

A garden clearance includes cutting back the overgrowth, loading everything that's going, from brambles and branches to an old shed, broken fencing and junk, and sweeping up afterwards. RLE Waste Clearance sends two people, and loading, transport and disposal are in the price. Tree stumps and Japanese knotweed can go too, so mention them with your photos and the price will cover them.

An overgrown garden is quickest to clear in one go, with the growth, broken fencing, old furniture and bags all loaded together instead of sorted into green waste and the rest. RLE Waste Clearance sends two people to load it all in one visit, priced by the space it takes in the truck. Send a photo from the back door and one from the far end.

A skip for a garden clearance means doing all the carrying and loading yourself, and a skip on the road needs a council permit. We don't hire skips: two people load everything in one visit and take it away, and you pay only for the space it takes in the truck, with no skip left on the drive for days.

An old garden shed is dismantled on site and loaded with everything stored inside, so the timber, felt, floor and contents all go on the truck. If an older shed has a roof that could be asbestos cement, tell us first: we don't take asbestos down, but once the roof is off we can collect it, kept apart from the rest of the shed. Include a photo of the inside, since a full shed adds to the load.

Soil and rubble from a garden are fine, and so is broken paving. They're heavy, so a load that's mostly hardcore is priced at the heavy load rate of £360 plus VAT for up to 15 cubic yards or 1,200kg. Send a photo showing how much there is and we'll tell you which price applies. If there's no side access, the crew barrows it through the house.

A garden clearance can't include chemicals or other hazardous waste, which in a garden usually means weedkillers and pesticides left in a shed. Asbestos, such as an old shed roof, can go once it has been taken down if you tell us about it first. We don't take asbestos down ourselves. Old paint is fine at £10 plus VAT per 5 litres. Bromley residents can use the council's household hazardous waste collection (external site), run by the City of London, for the rest.

A garden clearance can go ahead without you, as long as the crew can reach the garden. An unlocked side gate, a key safe or clear instructions sent with your photos is enough. The price is agreed on WhatsApp or by phone before any work starts, and you can pay by card or bank transfer once the garden is clear.

A garden clearance is the whole job, with sheds, fencing, furniture, junk and growth all taken away, while garden waste removal is for green waste you've already cut and bagged or piled up. Both are priced by the space the waste takes in the truck, with the same two-person crew doing the loading.
